- Non-Hindu access is not uniform across the three temples: Ekambareswarar allows non-Hindus into the outer complex (including the 1,000-pillar mandapam) but bars them from the garbhagriha; Kamakshi Amman enforces a full entry ban and turns non-Hindus away at the main gopuram gate; Varadharaja Perumal bars the main shrine and outer courtyard access is unconfirmed — brief all three separately and treat Varadharaja as a full ban until current sources confirm otherwise.
- Silk commission touts outside weaver areas quote 2–3x fair price; route all clients through the Tamil Nadu government cooperative emporium or verified weaver sheds.
- Kanchipuram has no five-star accommodation; the best in-town option is GRT Regency (35 rooms, ~$50–65/night), so luxury clients must base in Chennai and absorb a 90-minute transfer each direction for every temple visit.

Permits & entry — Indian nationals require no inner-line or protected-area permit; Kanchipuram is an unrestricted Tamil Nadu plains city. Foreign nationals enter on a standard Indian e-Visa. There are no seasonal road closures — the city sits on flat terrain between Chennai and Vellore with no mountain passes — though opportunistic monsoon flooding can affect low-lying streets without a fixed closure period. Non-Hindu access rules differ across the three principal temples: at Ekambareswarar, non-Hindus may enter the outer complex including the 1,000-pillar mandapam in the 5th Praharam but are barred from the garbhagriha; at Kamakshi Amman, non-Hindus face a total entry ban and are turned away at the main gopuram gate — not merely restricted from inner chambers; at Varadharaja Perumal, non-Hindus are barred from the main shrine and outer prakara access is currently unconfirmed — treat as a full ban until verified. Two major festivals to plan around are Panguni Uthiram at Ekambareswarar (March–April) and Kamakshi Amman Brahmotsavam (February–March); confirm exact dates and any mandapam-level closure windows with HRCE Tamil Nadu each year, as specific timings are not predictable far in advance.
