Safaris at Nagarhole/Kabini were fully suspended on 7 November 2025 following human-animal conflict protests; the Karnataka government approved full reopening on 26 June 2026 under a new Technical Committee framework — slot quotas, vehicle caps, and booking procedures may differ materially from pre-suspension norms and must be verified before committing any itinerary dates. All forest treks, including Tadiandamol and Brahmagiri, now require advance booking through the Aranya Vihaara portal (aranyavihaara.karnataka.gov.in) 1–15 days ahead; spot bookings at trailheads are no longer accepted; one certified guide assigned via the portal (~₹1,000 per group of up to 10 trekkers) is mandatory, and every trekker must install the Pathadarshaka GPS tracking app; the portal entry fee of ₹150–300 should be confirmed on the portal before quoting. Talacauvery requires no permit and the site is open until 8:30 PM, but road-closure enforcement on the approach beyond Bhagamandala at nightfall is unconfirmed — verify locally before quoting. Dress codes are enforced at both Bhagamandeshwara and Igguthappa temples (no shorts, covered shoulders; dhoti/shawl rentals available at temple-town counters); Igguthappa is highly orthodox — Hindu devotees must have observed a 41-day vegetarian fast and wear a dhoti/shawl to access the main shrine, and non-Hindu/non-Kodava visitors should expect access limited to the outer precinct regardless of whether a festival is in progress.
