Bali (Indonesia)
Bali, Indonesia · sea level to 1,717 m (Mt Batur)
Imagine mist rising off emerald rice terraces at dawn, a sea-cliff Hindu temple glowing at dusk, and a Balinese massage under the stars — all within one direct flight from India.
Bali is Indonesia's only Hindu-majority island, producing an unbroken sensory blend of incense-scented temple courtyards, terraced paddy fields, volcanic crater lakes, and Indian Ocean surf that no other island destination replicates. It sells equally well as a honeymoon, a wellness retreat, or a young-group beach-party week — often all three in one trip.

- Clients can skip the airport VoA queue by applying for an e-VoA before departure at evisa.imigrasi.go.id or the VFS Global Indonesia portal (IDR 500,000, 30-day stay, email approval within 24–72 hours).
- Since June 2025, stay extensions require an in-person visit to an Indonesian immigration office for biometric collection (fingerprints and photo) under Circular Letter IMI-417.GR.01.01/2025; online extensions are no longer accepted.

Getting there, permits & day trips
By air — IndiGo, Air India, Batik Air fly direct Mumbai/Delhi to Denpasar (DPS) — 5.5 hrs from South India, 6.5–7 hrs from North India; fares ₹18,000–38,000 return. One-stop via Singapore (SIN) or Kuala Lumpur (KUL) adds 2–3 hrs but can be cheaper off-peak.
By rail — Not applicable — Bali is an island; no rail link from India or within Bali.
By road — Not applicable — island destination; accessible only by air or (from Java/Lombok) short ferry crossing.
On a Driftibo trip we handle the transfers.
Permits & entry — Indian passport holders enter on Visa on Arrival (VoA) at Ngurah Rai International Airport; the fee is IDR 500,000 (~USD 35 / ~₹3,000), payable by card or foreign-currency cash (USD, EUR, AUD, GBP, SGD accepted; INR is not accepted). A separate mandatory Bali Tourism Levy of IDR 150,000 (~USD 10), in force since 14 February 2024, applies to all foreign visitors and is cashless only — pay online before departure at lovebali.baliprov.go.id, which issues a QR-code voucher by email; total entry cost is therefore ~USD 45. Alternatively, apply for an e-VoA before departure at evisa.imigrasi.go.id or the VFS Global Indonesia portal (same IDR 500,000 fee, 30-day validity, email approval within 24–72 hours), which allows clients to bypass the airport VoA queue entirely. Both VoA and e-VoA permit a 30-day stay, extendable once for a further 30 days (IDR 500,000 / ~USD 35) at an Indonesian immigration office in person; since June 2025, all extensions require biometric collection (fingerprints and photo) under Circular Letter IMI-417.GR.01.01/2025 — online renewal is no longer accepted. Sarong and sash are mandatory at all temples and are supplied free at most entrances (occasionally charged a ₹50–100 equivalent). Nyepi Day 2026 falls 19 March 6:00 AM to 20 March 6:00 AM: Ngurah Rai Airport closes completely for 24 hours and all outdoor movement is prohibited island-wide — the date shifts each year, so reconfirm before quoting any March itinerary.
